Luxury line becomes the first river company to open its reservations nearly three years in advance

Book Now Savings guarantee the lowest fares with up to $2,000 per suite on select sailings

MIAMI, November 1, 2018 – Crystal River Cruises, the World’s Most Luxurious River Cruise Line, announced the complete deployment for its award-winning fleet in 2021 giving travelers nearly three years in advance to plan luxury vacations along Europe’s rivers. The line’s five luxury river ships – Crystal Mozart and the four identical sister ships Crystal Bach, Crystal Debussy, Crystal Mahler, and Crystal Ravel – will sail the Danube, Rhine, Main and Moselle rivers on itineraries of seven to 16 days. With 45 unique ports of call, dozens of which are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites, every voyage features at least one overnight stay, many with double and even triple overnights, allowing guests to further immerse themselves in the ports’ charm and history, or venture to nearby towns for broader experiences.

“We have seen such great demand and increasing desire by luxury travelers to secure their ideal European vacations earlier than ever and we are pleased to make our complete offerings for 2019, 2020 and now 2021 available for booking,” said Walter Littlejohn, Crystal River Cruises’ vice president and managing director. “Not only does this advance ability to plan help ensure that our guests enjoy their Crystal River Experience precisely the way they wish, but our Book Now Savings adds more incentive to book early, guaranteeing the best fares for guests who plan ahead.

“In 2021, more than 180 Crystal River Cruises’ departures invite the most discerning travelers to experience the nuances of true luxury on Europe’s rivers – a standard unmatched by any other line. UNESCO-recognized Old Towns in Bamberg and Brugge, epicenters of art and music in Vienna and Salzburg and dramatic landscapes like the Wachau Valley and Middle Rhine Valley add historic and natural flavor to itineraries that also feature contemporary hubs like Düsseldorf and Basel,” Littlejohn added.

The “Eastern Danube Discoveries” voyage will debut on Crystal Mozart offering deeper exploration of Hungary as well as Serbia and Croatia. Other itineraries highlight the seasonal delights of riverside destinations, like springtime “Tulips & Windmills” sailings that explore the flower-laden fields of the Netherlands and Belgium; and winter sailings that focus on the dazzling spectacles of the region’s famed Christmas markets. Crystal will also sail the river less traveled, with “Enchanting Moselle” voyages through the scenic Moselle Valley.

Seemingly timeless medieval towns mix beautifully on Crystal River Cruises with modern hubs of culture and commerce. Guests can explore Germany’s oldest town of Trier, Beethoven’s birthplace in Bonn, the famed windmills of Amsterdam, Dusseldorf’s vibrant art and culinary scene and the stunning musical heritage of Vienna. On every voyage, the Crystal River Collection of more than 200 inclusive, curated experiences ashore will enhance the journey for guests with an abundance of options that cater to varied interests. Complementary Signature Events, optional more elaborate excursions and exclusive dining experiences are also on offer.

Silversea introduces new Wine Programme

Silversea Introduces Exceptional Wine Programme

Tastes of Distinction to Travel Deeper: Silversea Has Developed An Exceptional Wine Programme

(Monaco — July 26, 2018) Ultra-luxury cruise line, Silversea, has developed a spectacular wine programme to bolster its reputation as the top purveyor of wines at sea.

Selected by the cruise line’s expert Wine Ambassador, Lawrence d’Almeida, approximately 160 different wines populate Silversea’s wine selection, which is lauded by wine experts for including one of the largest and broadest choices of complimentary wines aboard any cruise ship, with roughly 70 different labels. Every major wine region in the world is represented in the complimentary range, as well as every major wine grape, yet Italian wines are particularly well-represented as an homage to the cruise line’s heritage. When relevant to the ships’ visited destination, local wines are added to Silversea’s wine selection, enabling guests to travel deeper by sampling fine wines from across the world.

Designed with wine-related destinations in mind and hosted either by Silversea’s Wine Ambassador himself or by qualified master sommeliers, the cruise line’s range of themed wine voyages unlocks a number of unique oenological experiences across the world, from onboard lectures and tastings to shore-based excursions. The themed wine voyages enable guests to sample an exceptional range of wines and expand their knowledge, while visiting spectacular destinations and enjoying authentic moments.

Departing October 18 and arriving October 31, 2018, Silversea’s Silver Whisper will cruise between Lisbon and Fort Lauderdale for Silversea’s next wine voyage, for which the cruise line has partnered with Comitato Grandi Cru d’Italia and the American Fine Wine Competition. The cruise will introduce guests to both ‘old world’ and ‘new world’ wines, in line with the ship’s movement across the Atlantic. First, guests will be able to sample approximately 33 different varieties of high-class Italian wines, which will be provided by Comitato Grandi Cru d’Italia – a celebrated committee that unites the top Italian wineries to protect and promote the prestige of the country’s most illustrious wines. Subsequently, an addition 19 varieties of America’s best wines will be available, thanks to Silversea’s partnership with the American Fine Wine Competition. Vintners, journalists, wine magazine publishers and co-founders of the prestigious American Fine Wine Competition (AFWC), Monty and Sara Preiser of Napa and Florida will join the voyage as instructors/hosts. The Preisers will present AFWC’s Double Gold Medal-winning wines and/or bottles from wineries named as ‘Winery of the Year’ to guests of the voyage.

Illustrious members of the ASPI sommelier association, Giuseppe Vaccarini and Gennaro Buono, former best sommelier in the world and the best sommelier in Italy respectively, will each join a segment of the trans-Atlantic voyage – to the great benefit of the guests: Vaccarini will accompany guests on various wine-related shore excursions, while Buono will host an accredited propaedeutic sommelier course, meaning participating guests will disembark Silver Whisper with a recognised sommelier qualification.

A further four wine voyages are scheduled for 2019:

• Departing Auckland on January 20 and arriving in Sydney on February 2, Silversea’s flagship, Silver Muse, will host the first wine voyage of 2019. Hosted by Lawrence d’Almeida, the cruise will introduce guests to various wine varieties and vintages in an intimate environment. In New Zealand, guests will be able to enjoy a half day tour of Gisborne’s wine region; trips to wineries in Picton; and a tour of the Marlborough region. In Australia, guests will experience a trip to the Ghost Rock Vineyard, among other attractions.

• On Feb 2, Silver Whisper will depart Sydney for Bali (Benoa), arriving on Feb 16. Also hosted by Silversea’s expert Wine Ambassador, the 14-day voyage will visit Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin and Komodo. A wide variety of carefully chosen Australian wines will be added to the Complimentary wine selection. Among the enrichments, guests can enjoy a private tour of the iconic Sirromet Winery in Queensland.

• Silversea’s Silver Cloud will cruise between Lisbon and Amsterdam between May 1 and May 13, transporting guests to some of Europe’s prime winemaking regions. Visiting Oporto, La Coruna, Gijon, Bilbao, Bordeaux, Belle Ile, Douarnenez, Saint Malo and Le Havre, the 12-day voyage will also incorporate opportunities to sample fine gastronomy from across the continent, especially in Bordeaux, where guests will enjoy an overnight stay. For this particular voyage, Silversea’s Wine Ambassador will select different wines from each country on the itinerary. Guests will benefit from interesting wine lectures and tastings on board.

• Between May 19 and June 2, Silver Whisper will cruise between London (Greenwich) and Barcelona, stopping at Honfleur, Saint Malo, Bordeaux, Le Verdon (Bordeaux), Bilbao, Lisbon, Cadiz and Malaga. Along the way, guests will be able to participate in the 2019 edition of the onboard accredited sommelier course, meaning they will leave with a recognised qualification. Guests can also partake in private tours of prominent wineries throughout the voyage. “From a rare Italian wine that is virtually unheard of to the very finest bottles that no luxury establishment can be without, our range of wines – both complimentary and premium – is tailored to provide our guests with an insight into the world’s best wines,” says Birgit Vadlau, F&B Director. “Our offering of fine wines is unmatched on any other all-inclusive programme at sea. Our wine voyages exemplify the exceptional range of experiences that guests can enjoy through Silversea and incorporate the finest tastes of the visited destinations.”

Avalon’s Active Discovery cruises

Avalon’s Active Discovery river cruises in Europe: learn, encounter, get out there!

European river cruises are getting more popular each year – and what’s not to like?  Cruising at a leisurely pace through some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, past ancient vineyards and medieval towns.  So close to shore you can wave to locals walking their dogs (who, in our experience, always wave back).

Add fine dining with delicious regional wines and beers and you’ve got a recipe for a great vacation!

Until recently, though, some would-be cruisers worried that a European river cruise didn’t offer options for a holiday where you can keep up your fitness regime from home (perhaps the impression of “Too much time sitting listening to lectures on Beethoven”?)

To the rescue:  Avalon Waterways and their Active Discovery Cruises.

Launched last year on the Danube River and proving so popular that the company has this year added the Rhine and next year will add France’s Rhône, they combine just the right amount of fitness and fun that lots of Canadians are looking for.

Every day you have the option of three types of shore excursion:

– “Active” – such as a guided biking tour or run…perhaps a hike through vineyards or even a canoeing trip.  How Canadian is that!

– “Discovery” – a special encounter, perhaps with a local chocolatier or farmer…channel your inner Van Gogh at a painting class in Amsterdam or have a hoot at a language lesson in “Fungarian” in Budapest.

– “Classic” – usually a guided walking tour in the company of a local who’s an expert in culture, history, architecture – and where the best shopping is!

Best of all, every shore excursion is included in the price of your Avalon Waterways cruise – and you don’t need to decide which one you want to take until that day.

Avalon’s sparkling new ships accommodate a maximum of just 168 passengers and offer a small but lovely selection of dining options:  the main restaurant, where expansive buffet breakfasts and lunches and four-course sit-down dinners are served; the Bistro Resto for small-plate, light dinners; and the roof-top Sky Deck grill for al-fresco lunches.  Continental breakfast served to your cabin is free of charge and self-serve teas and specialty coffees are always on tap in the Club Lounge.  Local wines and beers are included at lunch and dinner.

Nightly entertainment comprises lively and interesting port talks as well as live entertainment, often entertainers who come on board just for the evening to give you an authentic taste of local music.

March 12, 2018: On the heels of announcing Active Discovery itineraries on the Rhine, Danube and Rhône Rivers, as well as a new Avalon Choice program featuring included “Classic,” “Discovery” and “Active” excursions on each and every itinerary throughout Europe in 2019, Avalon Waterways is also announcing plans to add an Avalon Adventure Host, based in a new Adventure Center, to all 2019 European cruises.

“The river cruise demographic is changing and we’re seeing more active passengers who want to keep up their fitness regime when on vacation – or maybe even discover a new activity,” says Stéphanie Bishop of Avalon’s Canadian office.

With help from their Avalon Adventure Host, travellers can check out a bike (from onboard their Suite Ship) for a scenic ride through town. They can grab Nordic walking sticks and hike to a hillside vineyard or castle – complete with a picnic provided by the culinary team. Whether cruisers are looking for a kayaking excursion on the river or want to participate in a complimentary fitness class on the Sky Deck, Avalon’s new Adventure Host will make it happen.

Also, in 2019, the company’s new AvalonGo App will help travellers independently explore each destination throughout their vacation with a detailed, daily schedule of their itinerary, a list of nearby attractions (with hours of operation, historical facts and more), maps, directions as well as local cafés, restaurants, bars and entertainment options for further exploration.

SEE BEYOND SALES EVENT: Canadians booking a 2019 cruise by April 24 this year can save up to $3,000 Cdn per couple OR waive the supplement on select Avalon European cruises.
