Carnival To Offer Own Private Label Craft Beers
Capitalizing on the success of its shipboard breweries, Carnival Cruise Line has partnered with Lakeland, Fla.-based Brew Hub to become the first cruise line to can and keg its own private label beers crafted by its in-house brewery team aboard Carnival Horizon and Carnival Vista.
The agreement – the first of its kind between a craft beer manufacturer and a major cruise line – was announced Sunday, March 17, at an event aboard Carnival Magic at PortMiami.
“With the success of our breweries on Carnival Vista and Carnival Horizon the obvious next step was to let all of our guests fleetwide enjoy our refreshing craft beers and that’s where our partnership with Brew Hub began,” said Edward Allen, Carnival’s vice president of beverage operations. “To be the first cruise line to ever scale up its beverage operations by canning and kegging their own beer is unprecedented. My hope is that our guests will take a four-pack home with them to share with family and friends as a refreshing and memorable reminder of their cruise.”
The three beers, which are based on recipes developed in-house by Carnival’s brewery team, are now available in 16-ounce cans and on tap across its 26 ships and at all private destinations. The beers include:
ThirstyFrog Caribbean Wheat – an unfiltered wheat beer with flavors of orange and spices.
ParchedPig West Coast IPA – the embodiment of a traditional West Coast India Pale Ale, this hoppy, intense beer is loaded with bitterness with a bright flavor profile and distinctive aroma of citrus and pine.
ParchedPig Toasted Amber Ale – highlighted by its rich amber color and notes of toasted caramel and biscuit, this beer is well balanced, smooth and highly drinkable.
“Carnival’s team of brewers have created three amazing craft beers, and we could not be more excited to be working together,” said Tim Schoen, CEO and Founder of Brew Hub. “Now passengers on all 26 Carnival ships will be able to enjoy these fresh, high-quality craft beers on every voyage and take some home after their trip.”
Since introducing the first North American brewery at sea in 2016, Carnival has served nearly 300,000 pints of its private label craft beers to its guests. Much like breweries on land, Carnival’s brewery team has also taken advantage of seasonal products and created unique brews like a Miami Guava Wheat and Pumpkin Spice Ale. A brewery will also be featured aboard Carnival Panorama when it debuts in California in December 2019.
Recipe: Roasted Butternut Squash & Turkey Tacos
Okay, so not a lot of Mexican tacos get stuffed with turkey. But Puerto Vallarta still inspires us… to lounge on the beach, to go seek adventure and to dine on what’s delicious and authentic. At home, however… there’s nothing wrong with turkey in a taco!
SERVES: 4 servings
TOTAL TIME: 30 mins
DIFFICULTY: 2/5
INGREDIENTS:
FIRST, PREPARE THE SQUASH
1 butternut squash (around 1 lb)
¼ cup good olive oil
¼ cup pure maple syrup
½ tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp fine sea salt
½ tsp ground black pepper
MMM, SEASONED TURKEY
1 lb boneless turkey breast or cooked leftover turkey, trimmed into two-inch pieces
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ tsp fine sea salt
½ tsp ground black pepper
EVERYTHING ELSE YOU NEED
8 six inch corn tortillas

OKAY, ONCE YOU HAVE ALL THAT TOGETHER, LET’S GET THIS STARTED:
1) Peel, seed and cube the squash.
2) Preheat the oven to 400° F.
3) Place squash cubes on a baking tray and add all the squash ingredients. Toss the mixture well until all the pieces are well-coated in oil and seasoning.

6) Are you using uncooked turkey breast? Heat oil & garlic over medium high heat for 30 seconds. Add the turkey pieces. Season & cook for about 8 minutes, until it is browned, cooked through and the juices run clear.
7) Let’s put it all together! Place tortillas on a serving tray. Add turkey and butternut squash to each.
8) Fancy bonus! Top with goat cheese, cranberries and chopped parsley. (Actually, this is required.)
Carnival Cruise Line Reveals Name For Newest and Largest Ship
America’s Cruise Line Revealed Name During Episode of America’s Game®, Wheel of Fortune
MIAMI, Dec. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — In a nod to Carnival Cruise Line’s rich history as America’s Cruise Line, the line announced today that it will name its new XL-class ship to be delivered in 2020 Mardi Gras™, bringing back to the fleet the name of the first Carnival Cruise Line® ship that entered service in 1972 and started the wave of cruise vacation popularity in the United States.
In keeping with its tradition of fun, Carnival revealed the name to a nationwide television audience on the popular game show Wheel of Fortune on its signature Puzzleboard at the conclusion of the broadcast.
Mardi Gras will be the largest Carnival Cruise Line ship ever constructed and the first in North America to be powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), part of Carnival Corporation’s green cruising platform. At 180,000 tons, the new Mardi Gras will be more than six times the size of its namesake.
Currently under construction at Meyer Turku in Finland, the 5,200-plus lower berth vessel will offer a variety of never-before-seen innovations and attractions.
Itineraries for Mardi Gras will be announced in January and go on sale later that same month. Carnival Cruise Line fans who want to be the first to book on Mardi Gras can get a head start by clicking here where they can register to get a “first to know” alert and special promotional offer when itineraries are opened for sale.
The original 27,000-ton TSS Mardi Gras, a converted trans-Atlantic ocean liner purchased by entrepreneur and Carnival founder Ted Arison, ushered in the modern-day cruise industry when it set sail on its inaugural voyage in 1972, helping to transform cruising from an experience once reserved for the elite into a mainstream vacation accessible and affordable to everyone.
“Our first ship Mardi Gras was a historic vessel, introducing a brand new style of cruising to the vacationing public. What better way to pay tribute to our company’s nearly 50-year history of creating wonderful vacation memories than by naming this groundbreaking vessel after our original and beloved ‘Fun Ship,'” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “The new Mardi Gras will follow the trailblazing lead of her predecessor, introducing features and technological innovations that have never been seen before on a cruise ship while setting a new standard for seagoing vacations.”
Carnival previously announced that the ship will be based in Port Canaveral, Fla., which will feature a new state-of-the-art terminal. A second XL ship will start construction in 2020 and be delivered in 2022 to mark the 50th anniversary of Carnival Cruise Line’s founding.
Carnival Cruise Line Marks Start Of Construction Of Its Newest And Largest Ship As First Steel Is Cut
Line Also Unveils Ship’s Dramatic New Hull Design And Livery That Pays Homage to Company’s Legacy as America’s Cruise Line
MIAMI, Nov. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Carnival Cruise Line reaffirmed its place as the leader of innovation in the U.S. cruise industry today as the first steel was cut for the line’s newest class of ship and the new livery was revealed for the 180,000-ton XL vessel that will be the first-ever ship operating in North America to use liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The traditional steel-cutting ceremony held at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland, signified the official start of construction of the largest Carnival cruise ship ever constructed, to be delivered in 2020. A second XL ship will start construction in 2020 and be delivered in 2022 to mark the 50th anniversary of Carnival Cruise Line’s founding.
At the ceremony, the company also revealed a dramatic new red, white and blue hull design that celebrates its legacy as America’s Cruise Line and pays homage to maritime tradition. Developed by New York-based Bluarch Architecture, the design builds upon the company’s iconic color scheme that has made Carnival one of the most recognizable brands in travel and is highlighted by a stately navy blue hull inspired by officers’ uniforms along with vibrant red and white accents running the entire length of the 1,130-foot-long ship.
“This new ship promises to be truly special, from its groundbreaking technology and one-of-a-kind features to its distinctive livery and hull design that is both timeless and forward-thinking while paying tribute to our nearly 50-year history of making wonderful vacation memories for our guests,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
Following the steel-cutting ceremony, construction began on the 5,200-plus lower berth ship which will offer a variety of never-before-seen innovations and will be the first North American-based cruise ship to be powered by LNG, part of Carnival Corporation’s “green cruising” design platform.
“The start of construction of this amazing ship is a historic day for our company as we are laying the foundation for an unparalleled seagoing vacation experience that will be like no other and take our cruise offerings to the next level,” Duffy said.
“We are extremely pleased to work together with Carnival on this large and highly innovative ship. With the first steel cutting, our efforts in designing the hull, features and interior of the ship start to take shape. We are also very proud to build the first-ever LNG powered cruise ship for North American market, making this state-of-the-art green technology a reality,” commented Jan Meyer, CEO of Meyer Turku.
As previously announced, the as-yet-unnamed ship will operate from Port Canaveral, Fla., beginning in 2020. The ship’s name is scheduled to be revealed in early December. Details on the ship’s inaugural season are planned to be announced in January, with information on the vessel’s vast array of exciting culinary, beverage and entertainment options to be revealed later in 2019.
Guy Fieri’s Family Vacation Featured in Fun Video on Carnival.com
October 11, 2018 ~ The seagoing adventures of Food Network star and longtime Carnival partner Guy Fieri – whose wildly popular burger and barbecue venues are a staple throughout the Carnival Cruise Line fleet – are showcased in a fun online video feature within the line’s web site, carnival.com.
Fieri brought along nearly 50 of his relatives – some of which he hadn’t seen in years – sailing aboard Carnival Vista for six days of fun, family and, of course, food.
During the self-proclaimed “Guy-ded Tour,” Fieri and his crew checked out all of Carnival Vista’s tasty culinary choices, including a sumptuous multi-course meal at The Chef’s Table, family-style Italian at Cucina del Capitano, and smoked and grilled favorites at his namesake restaurants, Guy’s Burger Joint and Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse. The accomplished chef and restaurateur even got behind the grill to dish out his famous hand-crafted burgers and fries to hungry Carnival Vista guests.
When they weren’t relaxing in the aqua-blue waters of the Caribbean, the Fieri clan also took full advantage of the ship’s spectacular outdoor features like the SkyRide aerial attraction, along with a suspended ropes and the WaterWorks aqua park, culminating in an epic family dodge ball game in SportSquare on Lido Deck.
As Fieri proclaims in the video, “This is exactly what all of this is supposed to be!”
