Whale Spotting from our Balcony

Posted By : Morgan Gibson/ 0 0

It was day four of our Alaskan Cruise and I sat luxuriating on our private balcony, drinking a glass of wine, and admiring the rugged beauty of the snow-capped mountains that lined the horizon.

Gazing over the railing , I mentally reviewed the wildlife we had been fortunate enough to spot so far: Noble bald eagles soaring with amazing grace, the black bear who wandered across our path during a drizzly ride to the Mendenhall Glacier and a  playful otter we spotted out for a swim in Sewards port. Abruptly my thoughts were interrupted. An orca spectacularly breached the ocean, propelling itself high into the air and then crashing back down with a tremendous splash.  It was so exciting!  We had been waiting to see a whale! It really made our trip complete! My husband came out and joined me on the balcony and we sat and watched the whale play. Amazing!

Big Sports Fans

Posted By : cutecourts/ 0 0

We sailed with Princess Cruises to the Mexican Riviera, when we booked we (the wives) forgot that Super Bowl would be happening while we were away.  Our husbands were a little concerned that they wouldn’t be able to catch the whole game, just see some highlights.  BUT much to their excitement Princess had the BIG GAME on in several places on the ship – so they had a few choices!  Not only did they have the game on but they had some great munchies they kept bringing in keeping the Football fans fed and happy – just as if they were at Super Bowl party at home – in fact they decided that’s the way they’d like to watch ALL the big sporting events … lottery win pending.

Cruising is my thing

Posted By : Carrie Arbour/ 0 0

I have decided that I have finally been converted from a land holiday lover to a cruise lover. I am a huge fan of seeing multiple countries without having to unpack. I also always know that good food is always waiting for me and I don’t have to work at trying to find out where to eat on my own.  Meeting new people and being able to be as busy or as relaxed as I want.  It really is a vacation for everyone!

AmaWaterways River Cruise

Posted By : Kathy Wilton/ 0 0

My husband and I just took our first river cruise which was AmaWaterways, Christmas Markets.  We didn’t know what to expect but we were very pleasantly surprised!  The guests were like 1 big family, on the first night, the cruise director Nick, got everyone together and we all decorated 3 Christmas Trees while singing Christmas songs.  It was amazing how quick that all came together and the community feeling was so great.  Also to mention how AmaWaterways made us all feel every day and Santa even came to give each and every guest a gift!  We all felt extremely special.  The service was amazing and the staff was the best.  Our cruise director gave me the most incredible insight as to what a cruise director does.

We’ve traveled on many ocean cruises and now we have added river cruising to our best loved list!  Add it to your Bucket List!

Paul Gauguin Private Island

Posted By : Sandie Harman/ 0 0

I have cruised on the Paul Gauguin twice.  The first time was a 7 night Society Island itinerary and the second time was a 10 night Society Island and Tuamotus itinerary.  I preferred the 10 night itinerary, it allows you to time to visit and explore the beautiful Tuamotus islands.   One of the stops on either itinerary is Paul Gauguin’s private island.  It is a wonderful relaxing day spent sitting under palm trees.  If you’d like a drink no problem, wade into water to their floating bar where Le Gauguins will be happy to mix you up an ice cold beverage of your choice.   Lunch is served on the island.  If you want to work off a few of the calories you consumed during lunch you can take out the complimentary kayaks or snorkel in the crystal clear water.  It is truly a day spent in paradise!

Honeymoon in Alaska

Posted By : Morgan Gibson/ 0 0

Alaska isn’t the destination most people think of in conjunction with a honeymoon but it’s where my husband and I ended up going and it was fabulous.  We got married in the late summer, which corresponds with hurricane season in the Caribbean and we were unwilling to risk the weather.  Europe was also a consideration; however, we were concerned it would be too busy after the intense business of organizing a wedding.  We really just needed to relax!

A cruise to Alaska it was! I wouldn’t hesitate to suggest it to anyone – it was quiet romantic to be able to snuggle under warm blankets on our balcony and enjoy the majestic scenery of the inside passage.

More pasta please

Posted By : Sydney Hodgins/ 0 0

I’ve been on a few Princess Cruises and one thing that I always look forward to is my Fettuccine Alfredo.  My first cruise was with a seasoned Princess cruiser and they told me I must try it – so of course I did!  It was delicious!  It came in a crispy parmesan basket, was creamy and buttery and just darn tasty.  Anytime I sail with Princess I have it at least twice a cruise – it is on their “always available” menu so I know I won’t be disappointed.  My husband started getting it as an appetizer and when I travelled with my extended family our waiter knew to bring us a few bowls to share around the table each night so everyone got to have some.

Oh and don’t forget to try the Princess Love Boat Dream for dessert!!!

Horseback Riding in Belize

Posted By : Vicky DiMichele/ 0 0

I was recently on the Caribbean Princess and had the opportunity to go horseback riding in Belize. It was a wonderful excursion through the nature park. We even saw monkeys! They usually sleep after their morning breakfast but we did see a few just before they rested. After the ride through the jungle, we had lunch at the restaurant on property and swam in the pool. They even had a water slide. The pool was a great end to the trip since it really cooled you off after spending the day in  the humid temperatures of the area.

Azamara Azamazing Evening

Posted By : Lynda Sinclair/ 0 0

Just back from a 7 night wonderful cruise on the Azamara Quest.  Having heard about the Azamara Azamazing Evenings I was pleasantly surprised at the creativity and the FUN we had during our event in Cozumel.  The evening had us dancing in our seats and singing along with the Mariachi Band.  All very tasteful. We would love to experience an Azamazing Evening again.

Estonian Hospitality

Posted By : cutecourts/ 0 0

My husband and I were booked on an amazing Baltic cruise in July with Regent Seven Seas.  Unfortunately our flight out of Toronto was delayed by a full day due to bad weather in New York (rain storm).  We had to sleep in Newark Airport and were rebooked on the same flight the next day into Copenhagen but we had missed boarding our ship.  Our only option was to fly into Tallinn and spend the night there in order to board the ship the next day.  We booked a flight on Estonian Airlines – the wonderful reservation agent at the airport heard our story and without us knowing upgraded us to business class.  We had more comfortable seats (leather), a warm meal (with real cutlery) and the staff onboard were so sweet to us.  After travelling for two days it was the best feeling to be taken care of! We learned the hard way to always fly in the day before the cruise departs – you never know what is going to happen – delays don’t just happen in the winter!!

PLUS we got an extra day in Tallinn and absolutely loved the extra time – what a wonderful place with such friendly and helpful people.  A bad situation turned out to be okay … not that we would want to go through it again.
